USCPFA Richmond Chapter Hosts Annual Picnic with Chinese Diplomat: 2012
The Youth Reading Club from the Chinese Embassy and other Friends of China came together for our annual picnic hosted by USCPFA Richmond Chapter. In all, there were over sixty people in attendance. The group then went on to tour the American Civil War Center and the National Parks Center at Tredegar Iron Works on the James River, followed by a driving tour of Richmond City going by the Capitol Building, Shockoe Bottom, the Civil War Hospital Museum on Chimborazo Hill, and then down the famous Monument Avenue. Studying the history of the Civil War was the theme of the tours, as requested by the Chinese. The Richmond Chapter of the US-China Peoples Friendship Association was especially pleased to be able to host the Chinese Embassy friends in Historic Richmond during the beginning of the Sesquicentennial events. We look forward to more discussions and visits between their book club and our chapter bookworm's group.
